Kouros (Flerio)
At Flerio, near the village of Melanes, in an idyllic location by the edge of a beautiful garden, a complete ancient statue belonging to the 7th century B.C. can be found.
The statue measures 6.4 metres and it was found at the base of a stone fence.
This statue , named Kouros , was very popular in that period and is an important part of Naxos history.
One leg of this statue is broken and we don’t know if it was half finished or abandoned by its technician because he found “water” inside the marble.
